ONCE UPON A TIME ADAKALE WAS IN THE TUNA RIVER
When I was looking for Ottoman time fairy tails I found out about Adakale. The history of A little island fascinated me and I couldn't stop searching more and more about it. There are not many photos but I found some fairy tails from there and some photos from archives. Also, some people who lived there once. It was always under the control of the Ottoman Empire (at the end of the Ottoman Empire control passed to Romania). People who lived there were Muslims and they were descendants of Ottoman soldiers ( mostly who has to protect castle island( meaning Ada kale) and brought their families as well)...It was always a kind of fight place because no one could share the island. 1969 when it was under Romanian control island had to evacuate. It flooded with barrage water and suddenly there was no more Ada Kale. Some of the people moved to Romania some of them moved to Turkey with that time president Suleyman Demirel's invitation. interestingly after 1930-50's not many photos fro...
